Mighty Ant Movers · moving-day guide
A calmer move starts before moving day.
A short checklist for the decisions and small preparations that can make moving day feel more manageable.
Schedule ServiceThe checklist
Small preparations, fewer surprises.
Use the sections below as a starting point. Adapt them to your home, building, items, access conditions, and the responsibilities you confirm for your move.
A week or two before
Make the day easier before it arrives.
Use the lead time to remove avoidable surprises and give yourself a simple, visible plan.
Confirm access and timing
Check building, elevator, loading-zone, gate, parking, and key details. If access requires a reservation or permission, put the confirmation somewhere easy to find.
Sort before you pack
Set aside items to keep, donate, recycle, or discard before boxes start moving. Fewer unnecessary items means fewer decisions during loading and unloading.
Protect what must stay with you
Plan a separate place for IDs, medication, keys, documents, jewelry, small electronics, and other essentials you do not want in the moving load.
Label for the destination
Mark each box with its room and a brief description. Use a simple “open first” label for the boxes you will need immediately after arrival.
The day before
Leave a clear path for the work.
A little staging helps the crew and your household spend less time looking for the next thing to do.
Finish ordinary packing
Close and label boxes, secure loose parts, and keep a small essentials bag outside the packed items. Do not pack anything you will need to access during the move.
Stage boxes thoughtfully
When practical, place sealed boxes together without blocking doorways, stairs, hallways, or the furniture that still needs to be handled.
Mark items that stay behind
Create a clearly marked area for items that are not part of the move. Tell everyone in the household what the marker means.
Charge phones and gather basics
Keep chargers, water, simple snacks, a small tool kit, cleaning supplies, and any access information together so they are easy to reach.
Moving morning
Start with safety and a shared plan.
Before the first item moves, make the route and the priorities easy for everyone to understand.
Clear walkways and working space
Move small obstacles, loose rugs, and clutter away from the path when you can. Keep stairs and doorways open for carrying.
Plan for children and pets
Arrange a safe, quiet place away from the moving path. Keep their essentials with the person responsible for them rather than in the moving load.
Share special instructions early
Point out fragile, oversized, unusually heavy, or priority items and explain any destination-room preferences before work gets underway.
Keep your essentials close
Carry your essentials bag, phone, keys, documents, medication, and valuables with you. Avoid leaving them in an unattended room or vehicle.
Before you call it done
Take a calm final look.
A short walkthrough helps you close out the old space and begin settling into the new one.
Check every room and storage area
Look in closets, cabinets, garages, sheds, attics, and appliances if applicable. It is easy to miss small spaces when the main rooms are empty.
Review the load as it is placed
Use your labels and priorities to guide placement. Note questions or concerns promptly while the move is still in progress.
Open the first-night essentials
Keep bedding, toiletries, basic clothing, chargers, simple food, and cleaning supplies easy to find so the first evening does not depend on unpacking everything.
Make your plan specific
